The Role : Analyst, Chemicals

The Team: You are part of a growing global team. Fast paced, with ever expanding new ways of delivering important content and analytics to our readers.

The Impact: The chemical analyst will cover the regional and global chemicals and plastics markets, supporting the global chemicals team. They will perform high level analytic work and modeling in order to form conclusions on chemical supply & demand balances, plant operating rates and product trade flows. They will generate price and margin forecasts and write market reports summarizing their assumptions and outlook.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with Chemical experts based out of global locations to conduct research/consulting assignments on market developments and trends in the Chemicals industry.

  • Undertake ad-hoc tasks that can range from transferring data into standard excel templates, building and updating Power BI dashboards, researching, and updating chemical producer database, etc.

  • Work with senior authors to update/publish Chemical Economics Handbook (CEH) reports Conduct market research on India and SE Asia chemical markets.

  • Work with product experts to identify key demand drivers, optimize industry models to allow atomization of market reports production

What We’re Looking For:

  • BA/BS or MS in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Economics, Business, or other numerate discipline preferred. Equivalent experience within the chemical industry also considered.

  • 3-8 years' experience in the chemical industry. Previous experience analyzing industrial gases and fertilizers markets is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Persistent, with a natural curiosity about chemical market fundamentals and technical details.

  • Support subject matter expert, explaining the relationship between feedstocks, supply, demand, trade flows, and margins.

  • Expert status in Microsoft office and advanced excel. Working knowledge of Power BI, SQL and/or Python is a plus.

  • Ability to structure, format, and present raw/calculated Excel data in a clean and efficient manner.

  • Responds to client requests/inquiries for data and analysis.

  • Adept at managing multiple tasks and adhering to regular deadlines. Able to adjust priorities throughout the day.

  • Works well in a global team environment, focusing on collaboration and adapting to the needs of a diverse team.

  • Being a team player is a vital aspect of the position, and it is expected that the candidate will work well individually, as well as in a global team environment.

  • Displays well-rounded communication skills that implement good listening techniques, clear, concise writing style, and good verbal skills. The ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally.
