The Role: Lead Platform Engineer

The Team: The Global Mobility Platform Engineering team is responsible for building and managing the Mobility Internal Developer Platform (IDP). The team’s primary objective is to integrate standard development tools, best practices, and automation to continuously improve the developer experience and provide golden paths for the development and deployment of cloud infrastructure and applications.

The Impact: The Lead Platform Engineer is a critical to the delivery and continuous improvement of the Mobility Internal Developer Platform. The success of this platform will directly impact developer productivity, code quality and the reliability and scalability of our cloud native applications and infrastructure. It is the foundation on which our cloud native applications will be built and therefore has a high degree of visibility and support across the business.

Responsibilities: The responsibilities of this role as follows:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of the Mobility Internal Developer Platform, working closely with other senior platform engineers located in the US and the UK

  • Ensure the stability, scalability, and security of the platform.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to define and implement technical solutions, conducting code reviews and providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve the platform.

What We’re Looking For:

The role requires the following technical skills:

  • 8+ years of total experience.

  • A deep understanding of AWS cloud platform infrastructure and cloud native technologies, including experience with containerization using docker and Kubernetes.

  • A deep understanding of software development principles including version control, configuration management, continuous integration, and continuous delivery/deployment.

  • Proficiency in programming languages (preferably Java or Python) and scripting languages (such as Ansible and Bash).

  • Extensive experience of installing, configuring, and supporting the following tools: GitLab, Artifactory, Jira and Confluence.

The role requires the following soft skills:

  • The ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues. A strong analytical mindset and the ability to identify and implement effectives solutions.

  • The ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, clearly articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • The desire to continuously learn, staying up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, actively seeking opportunities for professional development, and keeping abreast of advancements in cloud computing, DevOps, platform engineering and automation.
