The Role:

Based in Beijing or Shanghai, the role reports to commercial head of APAC. Responsible for contributing to the growth in revenue of S&P Market Intelligence in mainland China. The role entails leading a group of professionals with the overall responsibility of developing new sales opportunities and growing and defending the existing book of business.

The right candidate will have strong commercial relationships with senior market participants within major financial institutions, SOEs, Government, and key industry associations. He or she will be an excellent collaborator as part of the Market Intelligence and sister companies in the S&P Global portfolio of companies.

As a seasoned leader, the candidate would have a proven track record of meeting and exceeding financial objectives, as well as a passion for driving a culture of collaboration and learning. In addition, this person will be a polished communicator in English and Mandarin who is able to manage across cultural differences. The position is best suited for a natural leader who possesses high intellectual curiosity, creativity, and willingness to increase the tenacity quotient of the existing team.

The Team - The Business:

The team is composed of circa 30 new and seasoned professionals within the financial services industry. The business has a casual and friendly atmosphere with an entrepreneurial spirit. To succeed in this role the right candidate will embrace a dynamic and fast paced environment of autonomy and accountability.

Essential Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and establish relationship across the account base including existing and new accounts. Focus on new client acquisition as well as expanding active users within existing accounts.

  • Create, execute and monitor the strategic and tactical plans for the region.

  • Develop and nurture senior relationships in the market place.

  • Lead critical client proposals and key presentations.

    • Liaise with corporate team to contribute to CEO - Exec senior China roadshow and various itineraries.

    • Develop and consultatively sell appropriate product - service solutions and cultivate references.

  • Develop and nurture deep and strong relationships with client organizations, addressing their needs, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction (eg high NPS).

  • Develop an exceptional understanding of, and stay current on, the S&P Global Market Intelligence products and solutions and their application to specific job functions and personas.

  • The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in a similar role with exposure to MNCs.

  • Act as a role model for the team. Share best practices and help others in constructive positive manner.

  • Ability to multi task and be flexible. Reevaluate regularly. Always be prioritizing activity that will best meet client and revenue goals.

  • Understand make up of client base by segment and user type to assist sales team in putting in place territory plans to meet objective.

    • Postgrad - tertiary qualification is a plus.
