Job Description: Associate Director IT Asset Management & Compliance Level 12

S&P Global is currently seeking to hire an Associate Director, IT Asset Management & Compliance to drive proactive Software Asset Management and ensure compliance with S&P Global Standards & Policy. The scope includes the processes and governance necessary for the effective discovery, platform management and reporting of specific software assets within the company. The successful candidate will have expertise in software asset management and strong knowledge of software licensing. This person will maintain the license entitlement repository as a part of the overall ITAM strategy which includes the research of software publisher licensing programs, the ability to interpret complex licensing agreements of various types; translating contract & license terms and conditions to technical data requirements in the Software Asset Management toolset.; and driving initiatives to ensure compliance with S&P Global software standards and policies.

This position partners with other members of the IT Asset Management & Data Driven Decision Making Leadership Team, with other IT departments, Business Divisions, Finance, Risk Management and Legal teams to reconcile measured software deployments to license/maintenance entitlements, and ensure all accounting, regulatory, corporate and legal requirements are met and followed for IT software assets. This position partners with key vendors and other external parties to prepare materials for renewals and other reconciliations.

This role will be part of a dynamic team that manages IT Software & Hardware Assets within the DTS Infrastructure organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identifies end of life, financial impacts and other risks related to software publisher licensing changes; software policy changes, and other internal and external drivers.

  • Leads the implementation of audit readiness processes to ensure active management of licensing and any license compliance risks. Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Legal, Risk Management, Procurement, etc.) to resolve potential licensing compliance issues.

  • Develops and implements a proactive strategy for software asset discovery and reporting in order to provide accurate data that will be used to ensure compliance with the obligations of software publisher licensing agreements and IT Finance policies as they pertain to IT software assets.

  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and drives the implementation of corrective actions; and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.

  • Performs license reconciliations, compliance reviews and compliance risk assessments, identifying any weaknesses and where necessary recommending / following-up on corrective actions.

  • Analyze large sets of disparate data related to software installation, hardware configuration, procurement, financial, and license entitlement.

  • Maintains proper implementation of Software Asset Management discovery tools, policies, processes, and procedures for effective asset management.

  • Assists in the execution of a compliance communication/education program for the organization which promotes (a) heightened awareness of licensing requirements,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or Business. Master’s degree preferred.

  • 10+ years experience with at least 7 years in IT software audit or Software Asset Management at a directly related / comparable organization, Experience in financial services or with a software publisher preferred.

  • IAITAM certification preferred

  • Tanium experience preferred.

  • ServiceNow experience preferred.

  • Power BI reporting experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of process engineering, software discovery tools and IT Service Management is a must.

  • Deep knowledge of major software publisher’s licensing rules.

  • Deep knowledge of open source licensing.

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate technology terms into business terms.

  • Demonstrated track record of solving highly complex, non-routine problems and determining the best solution through cost/benefit analysis.

  • Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to work with technologists and business leaders at all levels in the organization.

  • Excellent analytical thinking, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with strong ability to influence both IT and business partners.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a high pressured environment, balancing multiple initiatives.

  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities and proactively drive changes.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and build strong relationships at all levels in the organization.

  • Proficiency in Programming/Scripting

  • Excellent skills in Excel , Word, Power BI and PowerPoint
