Lawyer - Data Protection(12 Months Contract )
This position reports directly to the Head of Privacy Operations The Privacy Legal team is based in Charlottesville, VA and Melbourne, AUS.
You will report to the Head of Privacy Operations and work closely with the Chief Privacy Officer and other members of the Legal department to prepare legal advice, conduct regulatory research and analysis and be the key point person in the Privacy Center for our privacy management software tools. Additionally, you will perform legal analysis of requests for information, and other similar legal support functions. Use discretion and independent discernment in the application of privacy and data protection laws and regulations. Assists in providing advice and counsel involving legal and regulatory issues of varying levels of complexity.
Responsibilities:Interacting with and assisting with resolving data protection issues across all business functions, affiliates and subsidiaries. Assisting in the creation of training materials and corporate correspondence. Providing support with securing, preparing, drafting, and processing legal and regulatory documents. Manage routine correspondence with vendors, clients, and external parties in relation to privacy and data protection requests. Monitor, catalogue, and respond to various departmental email accounts. Providing support for resolution of day-to-day matters including general research. Assisting in privacy and data security matters, to include coordination with outside counsel to obtain legal advice. Prepare and maintain document management system for the Privacy Center. Identifying problems and supports the solutions based on practices, existing precedents, or procedures. In conjunction with the Privacy Center, working with national and international regulators and monitoring regulatory changes that may affect the business. Working within own team and interacting well with other teams. Contributing to the achievement of Legal team objectives.
Basic Qualifications:L.L.B, JD or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience in a top tier law firm or corporation dealing with data protection and privacy. Ability to handle high volume work flow. Professional, highly organized and detail-oriented. Excellent analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and teamwork skills. Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others. The highest level of discretion, sensitivity and integrity in handling confidential information. Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to multi-task and handle deadline sensitive assignments. Knowledge of privacy management software tools such as OneTrust will be considered favourably.
