The Team:

The S&P Ratings Finance FP&A team is a global team, primarily based in New York, London & India. The team supports and provides information, insights, and decision support to internal business partners to optimize financial performance and decision making. The team works together to support the overall growth of the Ratings business and regularly interacts with other divisions and corporate to support enterprise initiatives.

The Impact:

This role is a key member of the S&P Ratings Finance FP&A team, who will primarily partner with our Technology & Data function within Ratings to provide insightful information and support to optimize financial performance and support decision making. The ideal candidate is adept at combining analytic tools and techniques with business partnering expertise to drive business results. They should also be able to translate large quantities of data and information into actionable insights and have proven ability to continually improve processes with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and automation. The role will have the opportunity to share and present findings to senior business leaders.

You will distill insights from a variety of data sources using the latest tools (Alteryx, Tableau, GenAI), while driving continual processes improvement as the business evolves. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside colleagues across divisions and functions on both enterprise and divisional projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with providing effective and timely finance decision support for S&P Global Ratings’ functional groups, including regular interaction with senior leaders and their direct reports.

  • Develop relationships with key members of the respective functional groups to assist them with the review and forecasting of natural class P&L lines including, but not limited to: compensation, purchased data, T&E, outside services, data processing costs, cloud services and deferred project costs.

  • Contribute to the monthly financial estimate and yearly budget process through refinement of models and forecasting tools as well as regular discussions with the functional group leaders.

  • Drive process improvement initiatives around the team’s internal tools, processes, and capabilities to support the dynamic and growing nature of S&P Global Ratings’ information needs.

  • Assist in ad-hoc projects in support of S&P Global Ratings’ evolving business goals.

What We’re Looking For:

-Time Management: Ability to manage competing priorities and tasks in a fast-paced deadline driven environment with constant change and ambiguity.

-Technical Proficiency: Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel; Proficiency in Alteryx, Tableau, PowerPoint, Anaplan, and SmartView tools.

-Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to tackle new problems.

-Interpersonal Skills: Highly developed communications skills and ability to negotiate internally and often at higher levels.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ work experience in Financial Analysis, Operations, and/or Accounting in a large, complex organization.

  • Excellent analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to continually learn and grow.

  • Proven time management skills with the ability to work independently and as a fully contributing member of a team.

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills and experience condensing large amounts of information into clear & concise commentary.

  • Strong skills in MS Excel (Pivot tables, V-Lookups, IF functions, etc.) and PowerPoint. Experience in Alteryx, Tableau, Anaplan, and Smartview a plus

  • Experience in designing BI dashboards and financial reporting packages a plus.

Preferred:

-Must have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting/Finance. MBA &/or CPA

-Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP

The Location: New York, NY

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $82,872.00-$145,540.00. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
