S&P Global Consulting Director - Oil, Midstream and Downstream Advisory in Seoul, South Korea

JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Director is to convert their experience, insight, and analysis along with the knowledge base of S&P Global into energy advisory solutions in the Oil, Midstream and Downstream space. Leading and growing a consulting team based in Seoul is also essential to this role. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic global team comprising of experts with wide-ranging backgrounds in the energy industry. This role will help drive the expansion of our consulting practice in Korea and Asia Pacific. Based in Seoul, the successful candidate will report to the Head of Oil, Midstream and Downstream Advisory in Asia Pacific.

CAPABILITIES

  • Knowledgeable about biofuels, fuel marketing and distribution, and petroleum refining

  • Good understanding of crude oil and refined product markets, petroleum refining operations and economics, and the energy transition

  • Good understanding of financial modeling principles

  • Able to deliver committed work on time and in good quality

  • Able to interface with clients at senior levels and speak in public

  • Able to think through questions and/or problems and provide solutions independently

  • Self-driven with minimal guidance from the line manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead consulting engagements such as market study, feasibility study, competitiveness analysis, strategic planning, and due diligence review

  • Pursue new leads generated from various channels and turn them into consulting engagements

  • Prepare high-quality proposals and written reports

  • Establish good client relationships and ensure clients are satisfied with project deliverables

  • Participate in client meetings and lead presentations of project deliverables

  • Lead and grow a consulting team based in Seoul

  • Provide mentoring and training to junior level staff and oversee their analytical work

  • Speak at internal or external networking events

  • Support sales/marketing and collaborate with cross-sector teams to maintain/foster client relationships

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, science and engineering preferred; an advanced degree such as an MBA is a plus

  • About 15 years of work experience; direct employment history at a management or oil analytics consultancy, and petroleum refining and marketing company is essential

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Korean and English

  • Excellent analytical, organizational and leadership skills

  • Experience in leading a project team

  • Ability to undertake international travel occasionally

  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
