The Team:

Data & Content team at S&P Global Ratings builds and maintain high available data management systems. Ranging from data onboarding, data pipelines, data services, business intelligence. All our products are on cloud and we build new products that are cloud native.

This team has a broad and expert knowledge on Ratings critical data domains, technology stacks and architectural patterns. They foster knowledge sharing and collaboration that results in a unified strategy. All Data Engineering team members provide leadership, innovation, timely delivery, and the ability to articulate business value.

The Impact:

As a member of the Analytical portfolio, you will be responsible for analysis, design, development and support of enterprise data management systems.

The ideal candidate should have expertise with data management technologies and a desire to drive change through data alignment across the enterprise.

The role requires the candidate to be a hands-on problem solver and developer helping to extend and manage the data platforms. You will be an expert contributor and part of the Rating Organization’s Data Engineering team.

Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Lead your team with empathy and compassion. Focus on building a team culture that is based on trust. Inspire your team member so that they focus on continuous growth.

  • Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and responsibility with assignments. This includes understanding requirements, technical specifications, design, architecture, implementation, unit testing, builds/deployments, and code management.

  • Collaborate with teams members across the globe.

  • Ensure compliance through the adoption of enterprise standards and promotion of best practice / guiding principles aligned with organization standards.

  • Build and maintain a data environment for speed, accuracy, consistency and ‘up’ time

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Delivery:

  • Should drive and execute complex technical requirements.

  • Design and develop efficient and scalable data pipelines between enterprise systems and analytics platform

  • Attaint in-depth Functional knowledge of the application(s) supported and dependencies.

  • Hands-on position requiring strong analytical, architecture, development and debugging skills that includes both development and operations.

  • Understand Incident Management, Change Management and Problem Management, root cause analysis.

  • Ensure data governance principles adopted, data quality checks and data lineage implemented in each hop of the data

  • Be in tune with emerging trends Big data and cloud technologies

  • Interface with users, business analysts, quality assurance testers and other teams as needed.

  • Be a self-starter that is also an excellent team player.

  • Follow agile best practices including Kanban. Experienced in working with global teams, leading Scrums.

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 6+ years of work experience in Technology (application development and production support).

  • A Java full stack development lead with exposure to Big Data technologies.

  • A leader with experience in managing developers and their deliverables

  • 5 plus years of object-oriented software development experience developing server side components in a near real-time large-scale enterprise environment

  • 5 plus years of SOA development experience with strong skills in Spring Boot, JMS, Hibernate, Web Services (SOAP & RESTful)

  • 5 plus years of experience with SOA tools/technologies such as: OData, Kafka

  • Proficient in building applications using serverless frameworks and containers using Dockers and Kubernetes

  • Proficient with working on AWS

  • Experience with Continuous integration and deployment tools like ADO, Jenkins.

  • Usage of Eclipse IDE and GitHub for source code management and development

  • Good understanding and usage of JSON Java Libraries, XML Java libraries

  • Experience with Test Tools such as SOAPUI, Jmeter, Postman and be able to create Junit Test cases, Performance testing, Load testing

  • Hands on with Tomcat application server

  • Good understanding of Oracle 19C, SQL and PL/SQL, SQL optimization and related tools

  • Good understanding of data models and data architecture

  • Experience supporting production environments

  • Expert knowledge of Agile approaches to software development and able to put key Agile principles into practice to deliver solutions incrementally.

  • Experience working with cross functional teams.

  • Detail oriented with ability to take Initiative and proactively address problems

  • Excellent analytical thinking, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

  • Manage work to hit critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Financial services industry experience

  • Exposure to Data Virtualization frameworks such as Denodo

  • AWS Certified
