The Role:

We are currently looking for a Manager (Japanese speaker) to join our Financial Modeling team based in Tokyo. The manager will lead a team of modelers who cover Japanese related workflows for our client base. Financial Modeling specialists spend their time consulting on our Excel based valuation solutions, creating, converting, and validating financial models for our clients who include Corporates, Investment Banks and Asset Managers. As part of a global seasoned team, they also maintain pre-built models and specialize in onboarding of related solutions. The Financial Modeling specialists are charged with understanding our clients’ needs and objectives, providing solutions which enhance ECM, DCM, Credit, Investment Management, and other general analytical workflows. The role provides exposure to a wide array of products and processes globally and requires extensive client facing interaction, often with the potential for travel.

The Team/ The Business:

Comprised of former investment bankers, MBA’s, CFA charterholders, and technical professionals, the Financial Modeling team is the primary touchpoint for our clients and are the face of the company. Going above and beyond in their service offering is where the team adds value. Bringing a powerful synergy of diverse skills, talents and cultures spread across multiple locations, the team is both customer-focused and results-oriented.

Essential accountabilities:

  • Analyzing, creating, and reviewing complex financial models across sectors and verticals.

  • Acting as the corporate finance expert to the organization.

  • Supporting both existing business and the onboarding of new clients, taking ownership of our Excel based and related workflows with the specific mission of showing how these capabilities solve market problems.

  • Meeting with clients to understand their needs, working closely with Commercial and Technology teams to continuously enhance our solutions.

  • Thought leadership, including providing insight into industry best practices and in-house education and training.

Knowledge, education and experience:

  • Applicants must be fluent in Japanese with a strong command of English.

  • Applicants must have a strong foundation and work experience in at least one of the following: (i) Accounting (ii) Building financial forecasting models (iii) Corporate finance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or equivalent practice.

  • Related postgraduate or professional qualification, such a CFA or MBA preferred.

  • Exceptional mastery of Microsoft Office suite; Excel and PowerPoint in particular.

  • Excellent analytical capabilities and very strong attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in VBA is a strong plus.

  • Ability to communicate ideas in a team environment and across departments.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of capital markets and products, across sectors.

  • Experience using market data terminals.
