S&P Global Power and Renewables Senior Principal Analyst in Tokyo, Japan

Responsibilities:
Lead the research of Japanese power and renewable markets and regular research deliverables.
Deliver succinct, high-quality, and accurate charts, presentations, and reports that help core readership make better-informed market participation decisions
Spot and identify emerging trends early and, where possible, anticipate market movements by developing a solid understanding of power market modelling and forecasting
Constantly update knowledge of evolving markets, including regulatory developments, energy transition roadmap, global commodity prices, renewable tenders/auctions, key players, CPPA deals, REC and green energy procurements that impact the power sector
Engage with clients, market experts, and prospects (limited travel will be required)
Support internal teams in integrating Japanese market insights into cross-region or cross-commodity analysis.
What We’re Looking For:
Eight to ten years of experience in power industry
Knowledge of Japanese power and renewables markets. Experience in power trading, power market planning, market design, power price forecast, or renewable project development is a plus.
A strong desire to establish oneself as a thought leader and ability to establish a wide network in the power and renewables sector
Strong Excel skills are required. Experience in power market modelling, project financial modelling, or commodity supply/demand/price modelling is a plus.
Verbal and written fluency in English and Japanese
Ability to recognize trends and develop logical conclusions
Excellent communication, concise written style, and strong presentation skills to provide insightful analysis in compelling and straightforward content
Motivation to seek out new assignments and act on opportunities
Comfortable with high levels of individual responsibility and accountability
Demonstrates personal integrity and an openness to continually learn and develop
