Sustainability Data Specialist - S&P Global Market Intelligence

The Role:

The Sustainability Data Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting our existing Market Intelligence (MI) Sustainability platform clients across Japan and other Asia Pacific countries. This position will have a focus on Sustainability data workflows, encompassing MI Sustainability Datafeed and API. A significant part of the role involves understanding and addressing the intricacies of various content questions and related insights on Sustainability Scores, Environmental, Climate and the holistic Portfolio Analytics offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage holistically on client workflows, focusing on both Sustainability and company level data.

  • Lead and participate in Sustainability data analytics opportunities, ensuring timely and accurate delivery, assisting clients with the onboarding of proprietary data, portfolio integration for workflow integration and regulatory reporting.

  • Expertly query, inspect, and analyze data using SQL or Snowflake queries to extract valuable insights for the client’s workflows.

  • Design and create custom workflows using Workbench and related analytical tools to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, ensuring data workflow’s accuracy and integrity.

  • Master solutions related to Sustainability Scores, Environmental and Climate Analytics Datasets, Portfolio Analytics, Net-Zero and Biodiversity contents, TCFD reporting, and related Sustainability contents under varying future scenarios and standards.

  • Utilize Power BI and other relevant data visualization tools to create proof-of-concept dashboards/reports, translating data findings into visual insights that helps clients making informed investment/risk-management decisions.

  • Ability to demonstrate integrated data workflow solutions with the above-mentioned tools to client’s custom requirement.

  • Respond attentively to stake-holders queries, ensuring the full value proposition of our Sustainability solutions, while partnering with the Commercial Teams to help drive significant increases in Annual Contract Value (ACV) and usage/adoption of MI Sustainability DataFeed.

  • Consolidate regional Sustainability data usage feedback for product development/enhancement.

Sales Process Involvement:

  • Understand and employ diagnostic sales process principles when engaging with a prospect or client.

  • Support existing FI and NFC content and DataFeed clients, partnering with commercial team in achieving NBS target and renewal rate.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of competitors’ products and articulate S&P Global Sustainability solutions' competitive differentiation and value.

  • Provide product training to Commercials and adjacent teams, document technical client interactions in Salesforce to share with the broader organization.

  • Facilitate a positive experience for the client by aligning appropriate resources within Market Intelligence and the client’s organization.

  • Proactive in taking ownership of client’s projects, keeping detailed records and regularly briefing the wider team on specific learnt takeaways.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent/Native in Japanese Language.

  • Tertiary Educations in any of these disciplines is required: Data Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems.

  • Tertiary Educations in Sustainability-related Science and Finance is highly preferred and will be considered a big-plus.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analytics, preferably with a focus on sustainability or ESG data.

  • Highly passionate about data driven analytic solutions, a self-disciplined fast learner and has the can-do attitude to work in a team.

  • Extensive experience with SQL / Snowflake / Workbench / Data visualization solutions for creating custom workflows.

  • Strong willingness to learn about Sustainability frameworks and its implications in financial risk application of ESG in Investment Management, Banking and Insurance industry.

  • Experience in a client-facing role, excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex ESG data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
