Sustainability Specialists - S&P Global Market Intelligence

The Role:

The Sustainability Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting our existing Market Intelligence (MI) Sustainability platform clients across Japan and other Asia Pacific countries. This position will have a focus on Sustainability workflows, encompassing desktop, Excel plug-in, and MI Sustainability Datafeed. A significant part of the role involves understanding and addressing the intricacies of various methodology and content questions on Climanomics, Trucost Physical Risks, and Sustainability Scores offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage holistically on client workflows, focusing on both Sustainability and company level data.

  • Assist clients with the onboarding of proprietary portfolios for regulatory reporting.

  • Help clients create and understand custom sustainability reports in the Portfolio Analytics tool & Workbench.

  • Respond attentively to client queries, ensuring they fully leverage our Sustainability solutions, while partnering with the Commercial Teams to exceed revenue and usage targets.

  • Drive significant increases in Annual Contract Value (ACV) and usage/adoption of MI Sustainability Desktop and MI Sustainability Data-feed.

  • Master solutions related to Sustainability Scores, Environmental and Climate Analytics Datasets, Portfolio Analytics, Net-Zero and Biodiversity contents, TCFD reporting, and related Sustainability contents under varying future scenarios.

  • Conduct advanced product demos tailored to client workflows and design best-fit solutions.

  • Consolidate regional market feedback for product development/enhancement.

  • Foster partnerships with key stakeholders such as Product Management, Excel Modeling and Sustainable1 teams and collaborate with other Product Specialists across borders.

  • Represent the firm externally to clients and stay updated on evolving public policy dialogues.

  • Contribute to Go-To-Market efforts and marketing campaigns.

Sales Process Involvement:

  • Understand and employ diagnostic sales process principles when engaging with a prospect or client.

  • Support existing FI and NFC content and feed clients, focusing on the renewal rate.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of competitors’ products and articulate S&P Global Sustainability solutions' competitive differentiation and value.

  • Provide product training to Commercials and adjacent teams, document technical client interactions in Salesforce to share with the broader organization.

  • Facilitate a positive experience for the client by aligning appropriate resources within Market Intelligence and the client’s organization.

  • Proactive in taking ownership of client information, keeping detailed records, and regularly briefing the wider team on specific client use cases.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent/Native in Japanese Language.

  • Tertiary Educations in combinations of Finance, Sustainability-related Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems is highly preferred.

  • Highly passionate about data driven analytic solutions and a self-disciplined fast learner.

  • Strong understanding of Sustainability frameworks and its implications in financial modeling.

  • Intermediate understanding of SQL (or similar) queries, data transform concepts, and its applications is preferred.

  • Understanding of financial and risk application of ESG in Investment Management, Banking and Insurance industry is preferred.

  • Ability to research and share knowledge on related Sustainability topics.

  • Experience in a client-facing role, with the ability to analyze and stay abreast of evolving public policies dialogue.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to represent the firm externally to clients.
