The Team:

The Central Editing Desk has overall responsibility for editing and publishing content for all of Platts' real-time services, digital and social media, and extensive involvement with other Platts publications and activities.

CED editors are responsible for ensuring the quality and timeliness of our real-time news, analysis, market commentary, and digital output across global service lines covering a wide range of energy and commodity sectors.

Platts CED is establishing a presence in Gurgaon, India, that would serve as its fourth major hub, joining Singapore, London, and the US. and hence, looking for a candidate to serve as the lead of the Gurgaon team.

Responsibilities:

The role requires editor to edit a high volume of wide-ranging, complex, often sensitive copy, at speed and under pressure. The successful candidate should have the ability not only to process copy but to work with reporters in a positive and constructive manner with a tremendous amount of strength and patience. The team constantly has to assess and prioritize incoming copy, agree how to split the workload, and carry out editing tasks as quickly and efficiently as possible, all without losing sight of the need to ensure the high quality of the finished content. The role of CED editors to maintain that integrity and quality of those commentaries and, as with news stories, to act as the gatekeeper," the final pair of eyes on the material before it is published and dispatched to subscribers. Candidates would be required to learn about Platts real-time content products and their target audience, as well as getting to know and building strong relationships with our reporters, and becoming expertly acquainted with our internal systems and written house style. Strength in Digital publishing is critical, too, as Platts looks to more broadly showcase its content on digital and social media platforms. Processing, and making readable, copy from a wide variety of writing skill levels and cultures, as well as very different styles of material on a broad array of subject matters relevant to Platts. Engaging with reporters and freelancers, helping writers develop stories and providing extensive feedback about submitted copy.

What We re Looking For:

The successful candidate should be up to the challenge of establishing a new hub for the CED, displaying excellent journalistic skills and instincts while exhibiting critical leadership qualities.

BasicQualifications:

The ability to edit a high volume of wide-ranging, complex, often sensitive copy, at speed and under pressure.

The ability to apply the tenets of good journalism while editing content. This means, at minimum, ensuring the content is clear and concise, adheres to Platts' house style, has the proper sourcing and attribution, and is free of plagiarism and libel concerns.

4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working on a news desk is a plus, particularly for a news writer or similar environment, such as a busy newspaper office.

High degree of literacy and numeracy.

Working knowledge of energy and commodities markets and industries is highly advantageous.

Working Shift:

Should be flexible to work in rotational shifts (1 pm to 10 pm - 9 pm to 6 am - 6 am to 3 pm)

Company cabs will be available in 1 pm to 10 pm, 6 am to 3 pm and 9 pm to 6 am shifts

Eligibility:

An internal candidate must have completed minimum 12 months in current role.
